Is it possible that anyone can believe that Iraq attacked the United States? Does anyone truly believe that Iraq could defeat and rule the USA? Our Mr. Wagner from Romney seems to think so (Times-News letter, June 11). He goes on to state that WWII was "with Germany."

I wonder if the soldiers who fought at Okinawa would agree with him? He informs us if we display the Nazi flag in our home, that is freedom of speech, yet displayed outside the home it is advertising. Does he suggest my freedom of speech stops at my doorstep? What does he call it if I carry the American flag in public?

Moreover, I've read enough of these letters to know that liberals and moderates are not trying to change the Constitution to "what suits them."

We're too busy trying to keep it as it is, much less add anti-freedom amendments like the conservative movement who seek to misuse the Constitution to ban gay marriages. We are all entitled to our opinion, which is probably why Thomas Jefferson said, "We are not afraid to follow truth wherever it may lead, nor to tolerate any error so long as reason is left free to combat it."

I'm a proud American also, who wants my freedom without fear, but it isn't the Iraqi people I fear.

Half of our electorate placed the sovereignty of my nation in the hands of a family of CIA oil barons who sleep with the Saudis. Now, that ought to scare the heck out of any red, white and blue American.
