MORGANTOWN, W.Va. - Dane Wood Moore Jr., 78, of Morgantown, died peacefully on Monday, June 19, 2006.

He was born May 16, 1928, in Webster, the son of the late Dane Wood Moore Sr. and Linnie Moore Patrick.

He was a graduate of Greenbrier High School, Greenbrier Count. He earned his bachelor of science degree from Alderson-Broaddus College in Philippi, and his masters degree from West Virginia University.

He was accorded Professor Emeritus status from WVU upon retirement after 30 years of teaching Microbiology. He received numerous awards for teaching excellence. The Dane W. Moore Jr. Scholarship was endowed in his honor in 2005.

He was a veteran of the Korean War. He was an active member of Goshen Baptist Church and enjoyed teaching Sunday school class. He was a member of the Joseph Summers Masonic Lodge and Trout Unlimited.

He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Kathleen A. Moore; two sons and their spouses, Dane Wood Moore III and wife Becky Exline Moore of Weston and Charles A. Moore and wife Renee Saggio Moore, of Morgantown; a sister, Kathleen M. Byrd of Asheville, N.C.; four grandchildren, Haley Jill Moore of Weston, Adam Anderson Moore, Vincent Samuel Moore, and Rachel Amelia Moore all of Morgantown; one step-granddaughter, Crystal McMillen of Morgantown; two nephews, Dale Anderson and Michael Dane Moore; three nieces, Judy Russell, Phyllis Kight, and Kathy Silber; brother-in-law, Raymond D. Anderson and his wife Jo Anderson; a sister-in-law, Judy Ann Moore.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother, Marion E. Moore.

Friends will be received on Wednesday, June 21, 2006, at the Fred L. Jenkins Funeral Home from 4 to 9 p.m. and again Thursday June 22 at the Goshen Baptist Church from 10 a.m. until time of services at 11 a.m. with Pastor Dan Meadows officiating.

Burial will follow at the Mineral Baptist Church Cemetery, Keyser.
