CARPENDALE, W.Va. — Dennis Leland Shanholtz, 48, formerly of Flintstone and residing in Carpendale, went to be with his Lord suddenly on Saturday, May 13, 2006, at the WMHS Memorial Campus Hospital.

Born Nov. 6, 1957, in Cumberland, he was the son of Cora Virginia (Morris) Shanholtz-Floyd and her husband Tom, Burlington and the late James Sewell Shanholtz. Denny was also preceded in death by two brothers, Stevie and Lou Shanholtz; and a granddaughter, Toi Claggett.

Denny was employed by CSX as a conductor with 28 years of service. He lived his life for his family and helping those he loved.

Besides his mother, Denny is survived by his wife of 30 precious years, Vickie (Mellott) Shanholtz; his sons, Leland J. Shanholtz and his fiancée Candy Myers, Fort Ashby, Ramon L. Shanholtz and his wife Gayle, Oldtown and Wesley E. Shanholtz, Carpendale; his daughters, Sabrina L. Shanholtz, and Amy E. Claggett, both of Cumberland; and two children who he reared as his own sons, Mark Hedrick and Jason Iser. Denny is also survived by the loves of his life, his grandchildren, Ashya, Jonathon, Amera, Emalee and R.J; his brothers, Paul Shanholtz and his wife Judy, Frederick and David Shanholtz and his wife Vanessa, Keyser; his sister, Diane Riggins and her husband John, Fountainhead; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and many special friends.

Friends will be received at the Adams Family Funeral Home, P.A., 404 Decatur St., Cumberland, (www.adamsfamilyfuneralhome.com

) on Monday, May 15, 2006, from 7 to 9 p.m. and on Tuesday, May 16, 2006, from noon to 1 p.m.

A funeral service will be conducted at the funeral home on Tuesday, May 16, 2006, at 1 p.m.

Interment will be in Glendale Cemetery, Flintstone.

Military honors will be accorded at the cemetery by members of the Combined Veterans Honor Guard.
