FROSTBURG — “Sister’s Christmas Catechism, The Mystery of the Magi’s Gold” by Maripat Donovan, will be presented by Entertainment Events Inc. in the Mountain Ridge High School auditorium on Dec. 13.

Donovan is the creator and author of “Late Nite Catechism” and “Late Nite Catechism 2.”

Proceeds from the performance, which will begin at 7 p.m., will benefit St. Michael Catholic School on Main Street. The comedy features audience interaction and musical highlights.

In this latest off-Broadway addition to the “Late Nite Catechism” series, Sister employs techniques from her favorite TV show, “Forensic Files” to discover the whereabouts of the Magi’s Gold. As she points out in her hilarious opening, “We know what happened to the myrrh and the frankincense — Mary used them as a sort of potpourri. They were in a barn after all. But who was the culprit who made off with the gold coins and left Mary, Joseph and the infant Jesus in that lousy stable without any chance to upgrade to a suite?”

Forensic tools in hand, Sister creates a living nativity using audience members dressed as the Holy Family, magi, shepherds, sheep, cattle ... and of course, an ass. She then sets the stage for the crime by directing a local choir in songs of the season that are sure to add even more clues to her investigation.

“It’s not ‘The Nutcracker,’ and it’s not ‘A Christmas Carol,” but it is the newest addition to your holiday traditions,” said Donovan.

The production is open to the public. Tickets are now available by calling the school at (301) 689-2155.
