McHENRY - The Garrett College Lakers jumped out to a 16-4 early lead and had a 40-39 halftime edge before falling victim to cold second-half shooting in an 81-67 Maryland JUCO Conference loss to Hagerstown Thursday night at Garrett.

Kevin Bright scored 21 points to lead five Hagerstown players in double figures. Lewis Lambert added 13 points, while Q'Monte Matheny, William Taylor and John Long had 10 each.

Glen Izevbigie scored 13 points in the first half as Garrett was able to get the ball inside and finished with 17 to lead the Lakers, who fall to 15-7 overall and 9-5 in the conference. Shawn Greenfield added 12 points, Dale Taylor had nine rebounds, and J.T. Lewis dished out six assists.

"Basicially we didn't shoot well enough to beat them. They have too many offensive weapons," said Garrett coach Dennis Gibson. "We went inside in the first half and Glen Izevbigie had 13 points. They then collapsed in on us and we went over four minutes in the second half without scoring. We missed some wide-open threes and couldn't get any consistency."

Garrett will play at Baltimore City in a conference game on Saturday at 2 p.m.
