OAKLAND — A Friendsville woman was taken to Garrett Memorial Hospital on Thursday after her vehicle traveled out of control on snow-covered state Route 42 and struck a tree.

Maryland State Police said Carrie Sanders, 47, was operating a 2004 Ford pickup truck southbound when it entered a portion of highway that was covered by drifting snow. The truck slid before it struck a tree.

Sanders was taken to the Oakland hospital by Northern Rescue Squad following the 8:53 a.m. mishap. No information was available concerning her injuries or medical condition.
