LAVALE - George John Ayers, 55, of LaVale and Avon Park, Fla., died Tuesday, Nov. 6, 2007, in Avon Park.

Born Jan. 6, 1952, in Keyser, W.Va., he was the son of George and Norma (Smith) Ayers of Barton.

John was a 1975 graduate of Florida International University, Miami, Fla., with a BS degree in Physical Therapy. John was owner and operator of Ayers Physical Therapy in Cumberland and Frostburg for 25 years and owner of Bonnet Lake RV Park, Avon Park.

Besides his parents, John is survived by his wife of 31 years, Sandra (Yates) Ayers, LaVale; three beautiful daughters, Jennifer Lee and friend Brian Powell, Cumberland, Jessica Ann Cannon and husband Jason, Cumberland and Jaclyn Renee and fiancé Aaron Laffey, LaVale; grandson, Michael Cannon; two sisters, Connie Ritchie and husband Ralph, Frostburg and Kathy Miller and husband Ray, Barton; nieces, Sara Mowbray, Janelle Carey and Kait Miller; nephew Ray Miller; mother-in-law, Betty Yates, Frostburg; and his faithful canine companion, Parker.

At John's request his body was cremated.

Stephenson-Nelson Funeral Home, Avon Park, is in charge of arrangements.

A memorial service will be held in Cumberland at a later date.

Memorial contributions may be sent to Allegany League for Crippled Children, Cumberland or Allegany County Board of Education, c/o Special Education Department, Cumberland.
