OAKLAND — Harland Milton “Lum” Paugh, 89, of Oakland, died Thursday, Nov. 27, 2008, at Garrett County Memorial Hospital.
Born June 23, 1919, in Oakland, he was a son of the late Murray Edward and Carrie May (Haskell) Paugh. He was also preceded in death by his first wife, Virginia Frances (Callis) Paugh; by brothers, Garland Friend, Junior Paugh, Gordon Paugh, Leroy Paugh and Buryl Paugh; and by one sister, Beaulah Felton.
Mr. Paugh was a retired truck driver for the HP Stores. He was a member of Faith Evangelical Free Church of Mountain Lake Park and was an Army Veteran of World War II.
Surviving are his wife, Gladys Louise Moomaw Paugh of Oakland; two sons, Gary Harland Paugh of Listie, Pa., and Steven Wayne Paugh of Pleasant Valley; two daughters, Mary Mae Herring of Hartford, Ala., and Teri Howell of Swanton; three sisters, Adra Fogle of Smithburg, Claudine Calhoun of Mountain Lake Park, and Nina White of Worton; 10 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at the David A. Burdock Funeral Home, P.A., 21 N. Second St., Oakland, on Sunday, Nov. 30, 2008, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday, Dec. 1, 2008, in the funeral home chapel with his grandson-in-law, Pastor Daniel Yeiser officiating.
Interment will follow in Pleasant Valley Cemetery with military honors.
Expressions of sympathy may be made in the form of memorial donations in his name to Hospice of Garrett County, P.O. Box 271, Oakland, MD 21550.
