KEYSER - Josh Smith and Cory Proietti combined for 13 strikeouts and only one walk as the Moose won the battle of Keyser by beating the Yankees 6-3 Monday at John Kruk Field.

Smith was a homer shy of the cycle and drove in a run with his three hits. Orin Staggers had a double and a single with two RBIs and Wes Smith hit an RBI single. The Moose trailed 3-1 after the top of the sixth, but scored five in the bottom half to take the lead.

Ricky Kaiser had a double for the Yankees.

The Moose will play Thursday at Moorefield against Stewart, Barr and Thorne. The Yankees stay in Keyser to play Markwood Ford on Wednesday.

Cork's Cars 12

Mount Savage 3


MOUNT SAVAGE - Unbeaten Cork's Cars exploded for six runs in the fourth inning and rolled over host Piney Mountain on Monday at Mount Savage.

Aaron Mullenax hit three singles, Tim Holler drove in three runs with a pair of basehits, and Ryan White whacked an RBI triple to lead Cork's Cars seven-hit attack.

Derek Dickel hit a double and two singles. Kyle Bennett had two triples and an RBI, and Carter singled twice for Piney Mountain.

Cork's Cars (6 1/2-1/2) will play State Farm on Thursday in Oakland. Piney Mountain will play at Salisbury Legend on Friday at 7:30 p.m.

Outdoor Power 5

Fort Ashby VFW 4


LAVALE - Sam Schramm had four hits and two RBIs and Cumberland Outdoor Power scored a run in the first five innings to beat Fort Ashby VFW Monday evening.

Schramm hit a triple, two doubles and a single to lead Outdoor Power. Chris Wilson and J.C. Hixon both had a double and a single, with Hixon adding an RBI. Kyle Roberts pitched in with an RBI on two singles.

Coty Weese and Donnie Harris had two singles each for Fort Ashby. Harris drove in a run, while Travis Meyers and Justin Sacks did the same with a single apiece.

Outdoor Power (5-2) plays Wednesday against KMK at LaVale. Fort Ashby VFW plays Fort Ashby Lions at Frankfort on Wednesday.

Flintstone 7

Ridgeley VFW 2


POTOMAC PARK - Michael Clingerman struck out 14 batters and allowed only three hits in Flintstone's 7-2 win over Ridgeley VFW Monday evening at Hamilton Field.

Flintstone was also limited to just three hits, but made the most of them along with four Ridgeley errors. Clingerman had an RBI single, Nelson Reams pitched in with a two-run single and Zach Bible had two sacrifices to drive in a pair of runs.

Zach Nieberlien had all three of Ridgeley's hits, all singles.

Flintstone (5-1) plays Thursday against Bill Miller Equipment at Hamilton. Ridgeley plays Wednesday at Holler against Youngs/Optimist.

Culver Design 5

Grant County Mulch 2


ROMNEY, W.Va. - Philip Malick pitched a four-hitter and had eight strikeouts as Culver Design defeated Grant County Mulch on Monday at Hampshire High School.

Alexor Moore, Nathan Whitacre and Oliver Douthitt hit two singles each to lead Culver Design. Moore and Douthitt had one RBI apiece, and Isaiah Chaney hit a two-run single.

Noah Sites stroked two singles and had an RBI for Grant County Mulch.

Culver Design (5-2) will host the Rotary today at Hampshire. Grant County Mulch will play American Components on Wednesday in Petersburg.
