Nettie M. Leydig

GREENCASTLE, Pa. - Mrs. Nettie M. (McCormick) Leydig, 84, of 184 Baumgardner Court, Greencastle, Pa., died at 2:36 p.m., Monday, May 26, 2008, in the Chambersburg Hospital, Chambersburg, Pa.

Born Nov. 28, 1923, in Cumberland, she was the daughter of the late Harry and Mary (Borgman) McCormick. She lived her early life in the Cumberland area.

She and her husband, the late John R. Leydig, were married in 1942 in Cumberland Mr. Leydig died on July 21, 1986.

Mrs. Leydig moved to her present residence in 1988.

Mrs. Leydig was an assembler for Black and Decker, Hampstead, for over 22 years, retiring in 1988.

She was a member of First United Methodist Church, Greencastle.

Mrs. Leydig was an avid bird watcher. She also enjoyed flowers and cooking.

She is survived by one son, Edward B. Leydig, of Burns-ville, N.C.; 10 grandchildren; a number of great-grandchildren; three sisters, Patricia Michaels, of Cumberland, and Edith Sigmen and Ursela Young, both of Decatur, Ga.; and a number of nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two sons, Franklin E. Leydig, and Roger R. Leydig; and three sisters, Verna Shriver, Marjorie Pryor, and Rosalie Rahoden.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 29, 2008, in Miller-Bowersox Funeral Home, 521 S. Washington St., Greencastle, with Pastor Stacy Crawford officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the services, Thursday morning, in the funeral home.

Burial will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday in Madley Cemetery, Hyndman, Pa., with Pastor Fay E. Leydig officiating.
