Monteleone named to prestigious lawyers list

Nicholas J. Monteleone

CUMBERLAND — Nicholas J. Monteleone of Hidey, Coyle & Monteleone has been selected to the 2020 Maryland Super Lawyers list in the area of Estate Planning and Probate. No more than 5% of the lawyers in the state are selected by Super Lawyers.

Super Lawyers, part of Thomson Reuters, is a rating service of outstanding lawyers from more that 70 practice areas who have attained a high degree of peer recognition and professional achievement. The annual selections are made using a patented multiphase process that includes a statewide survey of lawyers, an independent research evaluation of candidates and peer reviews by practice area. The result is a credible, comprehensive and diverse listing of exceptional attorneys.

The Super Lawyers lists are published nationwide in Super Lawyers Magazines and in leading city and regional magazines and newspapers across the country. Monteleone’s name also has been included in the January 2020 edition of Baltimore Magazine’s annual listing of top lawyers in Maryland in the area of estate planning and probate.

Monteleone has been admitted to practice in Maryland for 38 years. His practice is focused primarily on estate planning and estate and income tax planning for large and small estates, the administration of estates and trusts, asset protection such as long term trusts for children, individually tailored trusts including special needs trust for disabled persons, wealth transfers and planned giving, charitable trusts and private foundations, and business succession planning. He is a frequent speaker on various aspects of estate and trust law, including the administration and taxation of estates and trusts. Monteleone practices in Maryland and West Virginia.

The law firm of Hidey Coyle & Monteleone also includes associate attorney Matthew P. Lamp, who is admitted to practice in Maryland, the District of Columbia and Kentucky. Prior to joining the firm Lamp served as a law clerk to Gary G. Leasure, former administrative judge of the Allegany County Circuit Court. Lamp’s practice includes residential and commercial real estate, the formation of business and corporate entities, business transactions, litigation and wills, trusts and estates.

The law firm and its predecessors have provided legal services to the greater region since the 1940s.
