KEYSER, W.Va. — Christmas decorations are up and free parking will kick off the holiday season in downtown Keyser.
Meters on Main and Armstrong streets will be bagged for the entire month of December, according to City Administrator Amanda Brafford. The mayor and council members voted to allow free parking during their regular meeting on Nov. 6.
Other holiday events include the annual tree lighting ceremony set for Dec. 4 at 7 p.m. on the corner of Main and East Piedmont streets. The band Hammond is scheduled to perform during the tree lighting.
On Dec. 6, the annual Keyser Christmas Parade will march through downtown Keyser. Lineup starts at 5:50 p.m. and the parade to begin at 7 p.m., traveling down Main Street to Armstrong Street.
For three consecutive days, Mountain Arts Guild members will offer handmade gifts for sale on Dec. 5 from 4 to 7 p.m.; Dec. 6 from 5 to 8 p.m.; and Dec. 7 from noon to 4 p.m.
The “pop-up gallery” is the second event for the newly formed organization. It is being hosted by the Mineral County Chamber of Commerce, located at 40 1/2 N. Main St.
