CUMBERLAND — Scott Bauer, teacher at Allegany High School, will assume the vacant position of assistant principal at Washington Middle School through the end of the school year, interim Superintendent of Schools Jeffrey Blank announced.
Bauer fills the vacancy left by Chris Cassell when he moved to Fort Hill High School earlier this year.
“I am very excited and thankful for the opportunity to join Dr. (Kendra) Kenney, faculty and students at Washington Middle School,” Bauer said. “I have worked with incredible administrators and teachers over the past 25 years that have prepared me for this tremendous opportunity.”
Bauer holds a Bachelor of Science degree in social studies and a Master of Education degree in administration and supervision, both from Frostburg State University. He began his career in Allegany County in 1996 as a special education teacher. In addition to his duties as a teacher, Bauer has been an assistant football coach, a head and assistant baseball coach and a head girls’ and boys’ basketball coach.
