Bedford County man accused of killing wife, stepdaughter

BEDFORD, Pa. — A Bedford County man was arrested Thursday evening after he allegedly shot and killed his wife and stepdaughter at his residence on Rocklick Hollow Road in Napier Township, according to Pennsylvania State Police.

Benjamin Lee Figard, 35, was taken into custody without incident by state troopers after he reported the shootings to authorities, police said.

The victims were identified as Amanda Lane Figard, 40, of New Paris, and her 12-year-old daughter of Breezewood.

Figard was charged with criminal homicide, voluntary manslaughter and tampering with evidence. The shootings took place Thursday between 4 and 8 p.m., police said.

Figard was awaiting an appearance before Magisterial District Justice Kathy Calhoun on Friday morning.
