CUMBERLAND — A city man was arrested Monday after he allegedly poured gasoline on the front porch of a Springdale Street residence and threatened to burn down the dwelling in a social media post, authorities said.
Michael Thomas Shipley, 33, was charged with making a threat of arson and reckless endangerment, according to the Cumberland Police Department. He was being held without bond Tuesday at the Allegany County Detention Center.
The Maryland State Fire Marshal's Office said the incident happened about 5:15 p.m. at 218 Springdale when Shipley, an estranged family member, poured gasoline on the porch then left the area.
He also made several threatening statements, authorities said, including how he was going to burn the house down with the family inside.
