CUMBERLAND — No visitation is being allowed at the Federal Correctional Institution at Mexico Farms following the alleged assault of an inmate by two other inmates, according to a prison official.
The incident occurred at 9:45 p.m. Saturday when two inmates "were observed physically assaulting a third inmate," read an email response to a Times-News inquiry.
The assaulted inmate reportedly sustained injuries and required medical treatment outside the medium-security prison that houses 1,039 male offenders.
No staff or other inmates were injured during the incident, according to information provided by the executive assistant of FCI Cumberland.
Following the incident, inmates were secured in their housing units and the institution was placed on limited operational status.
