CUMBERLAND — Friends Aware will hold its 22nd annual Ox Roast on June 14 from 5 to 9 p.m. at the Allegany County Fairgrounds.
Entertainment will be provided by the internationally known Davisson Brothers Band, sponsored by Wells Fargo Wealth Management. The menu includes barbecue beef, sausage, salads, soda, draft beer and Rita’s Ice.
Tickets include food and beverages and a chance at winning $2,500 in cash prizes. The top winning ticket is for $1,000. In addition, there will be raffles, tips and more chances to win. A gift basket raffle will be held during the event. Free roundtrip shuttle services will be provided every 10 minutes from Canal Place and the Ramada on George Street to and from the event.
The success of the event is credited largely to donors, who lend their names and financial support to the event. Five levels of donor packages are available. Past proceeds from the annual Ox Roast have provided needed vocational and educational equipment, medical equipment and supplies, and funding for individuals to replace hearing aids and receive dental services.
Friends Aware serves more than 140 adults with developmental disabilities in Allegany County, and employs more than 240 full- and part-time staff. Services include residential, respite, personal supports, supported employment, vocational and day habilitation. Friends Aware is a community partner of County United Way.
Tickets are still available for cash drawings until noon the day of the event and can be purchased at Friends Aware. All tickets purchased at the gate will not be eligible for the cash drawings.
