FRIENDSVILLE — The Maple Street Bridge over the Youghiogheny River in Friendsville will be closed for repairs for about six weeks.
A news release issued by the Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration said the closure, which begins Monday, is necessary to protect work crews and motorists and expedite the $500,000 project. General concrete repairs will be made.
Motorists will be guided to Friendsville Road, First Avenue and back to Maple Street.
The project, which will be completed by Concrete General Inc. of Rockville, will add years of service life to the bridge, according to SHA.
Crews will use construction barrels and detour signs to guide travelers through the work zone. Approximately 1,000 vehicles use this section of Maple Street each day.
