OAKLAND — An Oakland teen was treated for exposure early Sunday after he allegedly destroyed property at a Kempton Road residence and fled into a wooded area where he eluded police for four hours, according to the Garrett County Sheriff's Office.
It was 1 a.m. when deputies were called to the residence for a reported domestic disturbance.
The 17-year-old ran into a nearby wooded area and a search was conducted by deputies out of concern for his well-being due to sub-freezing temperatures.
The search ended four hours later when a sheriff's office K-9 Unit located the teen. He was taken to Garrett Regional Medical Center by the Southern Garrett Rescue Squad.
An enforcement aerial drone was also utilized at the outset of the search.
Assistance at the scene was provided by Oakland, Gorman and Bittinger volunteer fire departments.
Police said charges are pending.
