Morgantown man arrested in Mechanic Street rifle incident

CUMBERLAND — A West Virginia man was jailed Monday on a warrant charging him with first-degree assault and related charges, Cumberland Police said.

Andrew Russell Viney, 30, of Morgantown, was charged with first- and second-degree assault, dangerous weapon with intent to injure, reckless endangerment, peeping Tom, disorderly conduct and disturbing the peace in connection with the Aug. 31 complaint at a North Mechanic Street residence.

Viney was jailed without bond at the Allegany County Detention Center, pending bail review by a district court judge.

Police said investigation at the time of the complaint determined Viney allegedly pointed a .22-caliber rifle at residents through a window.
