CUMBERLAND -- LeRoy Myers, a Republican from Clear Spring, said early Monday that he's seeking a third term in the Maryland House of Delegates because he believes in serving the community. His District 1C represents parts of Allegany and Washington counties.
"I want to serve and give something back," Myers told the Times-News.
Myers, a Washington County native, said he didn't realize "how tough it would be in Allegany County (and) Cumberland to gain the respect from the citizens here. I found out very quickly you need to work hard" to earn that respect.
Myers said he's ready to stand on his legislative record, which includes the support stronger measures against child sex offenders and gang activity in the recently concluded legislative session.
Myers, owner of Myers Building Systems Inc., a Clear Spring construction firm, said he'd like to see the state's unemployment tax lowered.
