Cumberland man charged in South End disturbance

FARMINGTON, Pa. — An employee at Nemacolin Woodlands Resort Zoo who was attacked by a bear Saturday morning is in stable condition at a Pittsburgh area hospital, officials said.

The employee was bitten on the arm by a Himalayan bear that reached through a wire fence and pulled the unidentified worker to it, according to a news release.

The worker, who was leading a "Safari Tour," was in between two levels of fencing when the incident occurred. The bear had been at the zoo for nine years, the release said.

The worker was flown to the hospital after being treated at the scene by resort medical personnel.
