BURLINGTON, W.Va. — Two people died of gunshot wounds following an incident early Monday at a residence in a remote section of Mineral County.

A suspect was being sought in the slayings, according to court documents.

Donald L. Rutter, 32, of Burlington, was found dead at a home 74 Maple Hollow Lane, about 3 miles from U.S. Route 50, the Mineral County Sheriff's Office said.

Destiny C. Foster, 25, also of Burlington, was found with gunshot wounds and transported to Potomac Valley Hospital in Keyser. She was later flown to Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown where she died.

Authorities learned of the incident when Foster made a 911 call the the Hampshire County 911 center about 3 a.m., according to the court documents.

Police recovered six spent shotgun shells in a bedroom of the residence located off Beaver Run Road, according to the documents.

An arrest warrant was obtained as part of the ongoing investigation.

Burlington and New Creek fire and EMS units, Hampshire County Emergency Services ambulance and Romney Rescue Squad responded.

The Hampshire County Sheriff's Office provided assistance at the scene.
