Westernport man jailed for allegedly selling heroin, meth

WESTERNPORT — A Westernport man remained jailed Monday without bond following his arrest last week for allegedly selling heroin and methamphetamine in the Georges Creek area, investigators said.

The Allegany County Narcotics Task Force reported the arrest of Jason James Shingler, 42, following execution of a search and seizure warrant Thursday at a residence in the 20000 block of Creek Side Drive.

Shingler was charged with possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine, possession with intent to distribute heroin, two counts of possession of a a controlled dangerous substance (not marijuana), firearm possession in a drug trafficking crime and illegal possession of a registered firearm.

Police said a large quantity of methamphetamine was discovered along with heroin packaged for resale and a handgun when police executed the search warrant.

The narcotics task force was assisted by the Maryland State Police, Allegany County Sheriff's Office, Cumberland Police Department and the Office of the State's Attorney.
