FROSTBURG — The students of the Mountain Ridge High School Performing Arts Parent Association will perform Disney’s latest worldwide phenomenon, “Frozen Jr.,” the first licensed production of the world premiere musical in Western Maryland, according to a news release submitted by the organization.
“Frozen Jr.” comes to the stage at Mountain Ridge Sept. 7-8 and Sept. 21-22 at both 2 and 7 p.m. Tickets are on sale at https://www.showtix4u.com/event-details/34595.
The production is based on the 2018 Broadway musical and brings Elsa, Anna and the magical land of Arendelle to life. The show features all the memorable songs from the animated film, with music and lyrics by Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez, plus five new songs written for the Broadway production.
A story of true love and acceptance between sisters, “Frozen Jr.” expands upon the emotional relationship and journey between Princesses Anna (Brielle Windle) and Elsa (Abby McLaughlin). When faced with danger, the two discover their hidden potential and the powerful bond of sisterhood.
The performance is under the direction of Jordan D. Kline, vocal direction by Michaela Hale, choreography by student Allison Clise, set design by Joel Hoover and costumes by Heidi Gardner.
A “Build Your Own Olaf” pancake breakfast will be offered from 9 to 11 a.m. on Sept. 7 and 21 in the Mountain Ridge cafeteria for a chance to meet the characters from the show and have pictures taken with them.
All profits from “Frozen Jr.” activities will be used to assist students attending the Mountain Ridge Performing Arts trip to Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida, in November. The choir will perform in the Candlelight Processional at Epcot, while the marching band will march and play in the Magic Kingdom Parade down Main Street, USA.
More information can be found on the Mountain Ridge Performing Arts Parent Association Facebook page or by emailing email@example.com. “Frozen Jr.” is presented through special arrangement with Music Theatre International.
