CUMBERLAND — The Downtown Development Commission, in collaboration with the Downtown Cumberland Business Association, is inviting the public to participate by teams in the 24 Hour Dance-A-Thon for Charity that will take place during Burgmeier’s Hauling Discover Downtown Cumberland’s WeinerFest II, scheduled Aug. 9 and 10 on the pedestrian mall in Downtown Cumberland.
New to WeinerFest this year, the dance challenge will take place from 7 p.m. Aug. 9 through 7 p.m. Aug. 10 in the dance area in front of The McCoury Family Stage, which is located on the corner of Liberty and Baltimore streets.
The event will benefit a variety of local charities.
Dance team registration will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. at the DDC booth and dancing will begin at 7 p.m. during the live performance of Hot Sauce Willie on the McCoury stage. Dancing will continue through the night with music provided by DJ Jimmy Hook from 9 p.m. Aug. 9 through 9 a.m. Aug. 10.
The band Handful of Blue will wake up the dancers and entertain spectators on Aug. 10 from 9 a.m. to noon, followed by the band Firebyrd from 1 to 3 p.m. and Pan Jammin’ Steel Drum Studio from 4 to 5 p.m.
The dance challenge will conclude at 7 p.m. Aug. 10 during the live performance of Queen City Funk & Soul scheduled from 6 to 9 p.m. DJ Hook will also provide the music during the breaks between live bands.

The winner will be announced by 8 p.m. from the McCoury stage.
