JENNERSTOWN, Pa. — “Don’t Dress for Dinner” will open July 9 as the second show of Mountain Playhouse’s 80th anniversary season.
Written by Marc Camoletti, the show entertained Playhouse audiences in 1996 and 2003. Chan Harris is directing.
Audience members at the opening night performance on July 10 at 7 p.m. are invited to attend a complimentary celebration with members of the company to enjoy music, food and a cash bar. Opening night parties are held immediately following the curtain in the Tuscany Room of Green Gables Restaurant, next door to the theater. Following the 3 p.m. matinee on July 14, members of the cast will join the audience for a Mountain Playhouse tradition, Talk Back, an opportunity for to discuss the show and its creation in a question-and-answer format. The Jenner Art Gallery will feature the art of Alan Rauch and his students at the Bottle Works in Johnstown.
Mountain Playhouse is housed in a 1805 gristmill rebuilt on the current site in 1939.
Hosting an average audience of 25,000 each season, it became a nonprofit in 1998, in order to ensure its longevity. It is not a part of Green Gables Restaurant and is governed by a board of directors.
