BURLINGTON, W.Va. — A Springfield man was killed and his wife seriously injured when their motorcycle collided head-on with a full-size SUV late Sunday afternoon on U.S. Route 50 near the intersection with Patterson Creek Road, according to West Virginia State Police.

Troy Lee Imes, 55, was pronounced dead at the scene of the 4:24 p.m. crash.

Police said Yvonne J. Imes, 49, suffered serious injuries and was flown to Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown by Conemaugh MedStar helicopter.

Police said the crash occurred when a Harley-Davidson motorcycle occupied by the Imes couple crossed the center line and collided head-on with a Chevrolet Tahoe operated by Lois Ann Reed, 61, and also occupied by James Edward Reed, 62, both of Mount Storm.

Both Reeds declined medical treatment at the scene, police said.
