STOYSTOWN, Pa. — After a six-hour standoff, Pennsylvania State Police arrested a Stoystown man who allegedly threatened to harm himself with a 22 caliber handgun.

Jason Merringer, 40, reportedly threatened to hurt himself around 8:25 p.m. Friday. His wife, in-laws and two children left the residence and contacted state police.

After reportedly two hours of refusing to come out of the residence, the state police Special Emergency Response Team responded to the residence.

After another four hours Merringer left the home around 3 a.m. and was taken into custody and transported to Somerset Hospital for evaluation. No one was injured in the incident.

Investigation into the incident is ongoing.
