Heat tryouts Saturday, Sunday

CRESAPTOWN — To kick off its 10th season, the Cumberland Heat girls fastpitch softball organization will hold tryouts for the 2007 season Saturday and Sunday Sept. 9-10, with the following times being the same for both days:

* 14 and Under tryouts will be held at Carl Belt Field, 3 to 5 p.m. Players must be 14 years of age or younger as of Jan. 1, 2007.

* 16 and Under tryouts will be held at Carl Belt Field, 1to 3 p.m. Players must be 16 years of age or younger as of Jan. 1, 2007.

* 18 and Under tryout dates will be announced at a future date. Any player interested in trying out for the 18 and Under team should call Rick Twigg at (301) 729-8631.

The 10 and 12 and Under tryouts were held Aug. 19-20. There are, however, limited roster openings available. Interested players should call for a tryout.

Bartlett, York win Nite event at Polish Pines

KEYSER, W. Va. — Charles Bartlett and Troy York shot a 36 to win a two-man scramble, Nite Golf Tournament at Polish Pines Golf Club.

Second place went to the duo of Dan Sears and Paul Kelly with a 37.

F Club meeting scheduled

CUMBERLAND — The F Club will meet Wednesday at the F Club booth between the freshman and junior varsity football games.

The booth will be open with Frankfort/Fort Hill T-shirts available.

Time changes for MGA events posted

RAWLINGS — The starting time for Wednesday’s MGA event at Fore Sisters Golf Course will be at 9 a.m. Thursday evening’s event is now scheduled for 5 p.m.

Members should arrive 15 minutes before starting time.

Fall Hot Stove sign-ups set for Sunday

POTOMAC — The Hot Stove Fall Ball League will hold sign-ups Sunday beginning at 1:30 at the Hot Stove Complex.

Any child who just finished Little League, or has a year of eligibility left in Hot Stove may participate.
