Fort Hill sweeps Mountain Ridge 3-0

FROSTBURG — Kambria Rice had a double double and Brooklyne Noel and Alivia Appel combined for 33 kills in leading Fort Hill to a three-game sweep of Mountain Ridge in the Maryland Class 1A West Region I final Wednesday evening at Mountain Ridge High School.

The Sentinels won by game scores of 25-22, 25-15 and 25-21.

Rice led the team with 32 assists and had 15 digs while scoring five points.

Noel made 17 kills and a had a block while Appel had 16 kills, scored 13 points for a double double and made five digs. Mindee Guinn scored 12 points and had seven digs.

The Sentinels (10-7) advance to the Class 1A quarterfinals to face an opponent to be determined after the eight region champions are reseeded today based on their regular-season winning percentage. The quarterfinals will be held Friday or Saturday.

The Miners’ individual statistics were unavailable at deadline.

Mountain Ridge’s season ends at 12-5.
