CUMBERLAND — Mikkah Tobias scored 19 points to lead five players in double figures as Allegany College of Maryland defeated Butler County Community College 118-97 Wednesday night at Bob Kirk Arena.
The Trojans (2-0) raced out to a 61-29 halftime lead and coasted to the 21-point victory as every player got playing time and 13 scored.
Tobias led the Trojans hitting 9 of 13 baskets and making 1 of 2 from the free-throw line. He also had six rebounds and made two blocks.
Richard Dudley scored 15 points, Imhotep George added 14, Justin Copman 12 and Brandon Hodge had 11. Derek Dixon, E’Mari Johnson and Jamal Simon each had eight.
Butler’s Jamir Carter scored a game-high 33 points — with 30 coming after halftime — and Andrew Yonker had 21 and Julian Sanks 16.
Allegany’s Copman and Johnson each led the team with a game-high 14 rebounds, with Copman pulling down 10 defensively and Johnson getting eight offensive boards. George had seven, Tobias six and O’Bray Rufus five. Hodge led the team with eight assists and George had three blocks.
George also had two of the team’s five three-pointers.
The Trojans will participate in the Niagara County Community College Tip Off Classic on Saturday and Sunday in Sanborn, New York. The Trojans will play Genesee Community College on Saturday at 5 p.m. and host Niagara County on Sunday at 1 p.m.
