FROSTBURG — Anna Broadwater made two free three throws with 0.9 seconds left in the game to give Mountain Ridge a 40-39 victory over St. Stephens & St. Agnes of Alexandria, Va., in the Mountain Ridge Holiday Tournament Tuesday night.

St. Stephens jumped out to a 16-7 lead at the end of the first period.

Mountain Ridge began to chip away at the lead, trailing by eight at halftime.

They were able to cut the deficit to four going into the final period.

Broadwater was fouled shooting a three-pointer with 0.9 seconds left, she missed the first foul shot and made the next two to clinch the win.

Shae Winner led Mountain Ridge with 10 points and seven rebounds, Carlie Lewis had six points and eight rebounds and Sarah Raines added six points and five steals.

St. Stephens & St. Agnes will play Fort Hill in the consolation game at 5:30.

Mountain Ridge will play Catoctin in the championship game after that.

Allegany 53, Jefferson 39

WILLIAMSPORT — Allegany remained undefeated, downing Jefferson in the Williamsport Christmas Tournament Tuesday evening.

Allegany had a slim three-point advantage at the end of the first period.

They began to pull away in the second, taking an 11-point lead into the locker room.

The Campers found their rhythm offensively in the second half, gaining a 14-point lead going into the fourth and winning by that same margin.

Aimee Conley led all scorers with 16 points and grabbed six rebounds, Lindsie Linaburg had 11 points and 12 rebounds and Courtney Landis chipped in eight points, eight rebounds, three steals and three assists.

Allegany (5-0) plays host team Williamsport in the championship game today at 5 p.m.

Indian Creek    45

OAKLAND — Host Southern defeated Indian Creek in the Snowflake Classic Tuesday night in Oakland.

After a 9-9 tie at the end of the first, Southern began to slowly pull away in the second, allowing just eight points to take a three-point lead into halftime.

They surrendered just eight more points again in the third and extended their lead to 13 going into the fourth, where they coasted to an 11-point win.

Mandy Sweitzer scored 15 points and owned the boards with 18 rebounds, Kambrie Bosley hit five three-pointers for 15.

Cyndi Cole led Indian Creek with 21.

Trinity defeated Indian Creek 64-49 on Monday to set-up Southern (5-2) against Trinity today at noon in the Snowflake Classic.

Fort Hill    38

FROSTBURG — Catoctin outlasted Fort Hill down the stretch to win in the Mountain Ridge Holiday Tournament opening game Tuesday evening.

Both teams struggled offensively out of the gate scoring just seven points each.

The game remained highly competitive throughout with Fort Hill taking a one-point lead into the break.

The teams continued to go back-and-forth in the second half, going into the fourth tied at 32.

Catoctin was able to pull away to secure a six-point victory.

Courtney Clemons led Catoctin with 13 points.

Alesha Jackson led all scorers with 19, Mariah James added 10 and Alyssia Twigg recorded five points and 14 rebounds.

Fort Hill plays St. Stephens & St. Agnes in the consolation game today at 5:30.

Following that, Catoctin will play Mountain Ridge in the championship game.
