KEYSER, W.Va. — Noah Dawson scored with less than two minutes remaining to lift Keyser over Northern 3-2 Tuesday evening for its first victory of the season at Keyser High School.

It was the season opener for the Huskies.

Dawson’s score was the last of a back-and-forth game that saw Keyser take the lead late in each half.

Northern made it 1-0 when Blayze Cox scored unassisted 18:09 into the first half. The Golden Tornado tied it more than five minutes later on Lonnie Pridemore’s goal assisted by Seth Earnest.

Pridemore’s unassisted goal at 39:51 gave Keyser a 2-1 lead at halftime.

Northern tied it early in the second half on Vova Symulyk’s goal at 42:40.

Keyser led in shots on goal, 8-4, and corner kicks, 7-2. 

Northern’s Tyler Yoder made six saves while Keyser’s Kaleb Kitzmiller stopped three.

Keyser (1-5) hosts Frankfort today at 7 p.m. The Huskies visit Southern tonight with the junior varsity game starting things at 5:30 p.m. followed by the varsity at 7.

Fort Hill 6Hampshire 0

ROMNEY, W.Va. — Connor Hipp scored two goals and Logan Mullery one and assisted on two others to lead Fort Hill over Hampshire Tuesday evening at Hampshire High School.

The Sentinels (2-0) scored three goals in each. Westyn Parks (38:49), Seth Whitacre (11:11) and Hipp (3:19) scored in the first half with Mullery assisting the Parks and Whitacre. Parks assisted Hipp.

In the second half, Hipp started the scoring on an assist by Jacob Morgan (34:29). Riley Upole scored on a penalty kick and Mullery scored unassisted with 6:26 to play.

Fort Hill dominated in both shots (29-4) and corner kicks (5-1).

Jacob Tichnell made two saves for the Sentinels while Mason Hott stopped 15 for the Trojans.

Fort Hill will play both Garrett County schools on Saturday at Accident. Fort Hill will play host Northern at 9:30 a.m. then take on Southern at 1 p.m.

Hampshire (2-4-1) visits Martinsburg, West Virginia, tonight at 7 p.m.

Allegany 5Calvary 2

CRESAPTOWN — Christian Groves scored three goals and Eli Wallace had two assists as the Campers opened their season with a victory over Calvary Christian Tuesday afternoon at Liberty Field.

The Campers’ Paul Haberlein had a goal and an assist and Drake Lechliter also scored a goal.

Will Speis, on a penalty kick, and Connor O’Brien scored on an assist from Luke Reed.

Allegany led in shots on goal, 17-10, and in corner kicks, 7-2.

Colby Mallery made six saves for Calvary while the Campers’ goalie stopped three shots.

Allegany will play Southern and Northern on Saturday in Accident. The Campers will play the Rams at 11 a.m. and then play host Northern at 2:30 p.m.

Calvary (3-2-2) visits Grace Friday afternoon beginning at 4:30 p.m.

Frankfort 9Berkeley Springs 0

BERKELEY SPRINGS, W.Va. — Briar Cessna scored four goals and assisted on another to lead Frankfort over Berkeley Springs Monday evening.

Cessna, who had one unassisted goal, was twice assisted by Levi Sgaggero and once by Matt Kenney.

The Falcons dominated the Indians 18-7 in shots and 5-1 on corner kicks.

Also scoring goals for Frankfort were Chris Kenney assisted by Cessna, and Micah Lewis, Aiden Adams, Corey Brieloff and Kenny Sibley unassisted.  

Ben Nestor, with five, and Chris Kenney combined to make seven stops for the Falcons.

Frankfort (4-2-2) visits Keyser tonight at 7 p.m.
