CUMBERLAND — Fort Hill scored twice in the second half, and goalie Daniel Johnson tightened up in the second half to send Fort Hill to a 2-1 win over Mountain Ridge Saturday night at Greenway Avenue Stadium.

The Miners started the scoring in the Appalachian Mountain Athletic Conference contest by getting a late first half goal from Chris Ranker. Ranker scored the goal with 3:28 left in the half, and was unassisted in doing so.

For the first 12 minutes of the second half the score was firm at 1-0, but Ben Brown changed that when he tied the score on a Derrick Parker assist with 18:07 left.

With 12:56 remaining Mike Moyer scored on an assist from Josh Borland for the go-ahead goal.

Both teams were almost equal in shots and saves. The Sentinels Attempted 23 shots while the Miners made 22. Daniel Johnson made 14 saves in Fort Hill’s goal, and Connor Eberly had 14 saves for Mountain Ridge.

Fort Hill won the jayvee game 1-0 on a goal by Andrew Yost. James Johnson had nine saves in the shutout. For the Miners, Glenn Werner had two saves, and Logan Cheshire had one.

Fort Hill (2-1 overall and AMAC) plays host to Musselman on Tuesday. The Miners (2-1-1, 1-1 AMAC) plays home on Monday against Bishop Walsh.

Allegany 3, BW 0

CUMBERLAND — Sam Hofacker was involved on all three Bishop Walsh goals as the Campers beat City rival Bishop Walsh to hand the Spartans their first loss of the season.

Hofacker scored the opening goal when he went unassisted with 34:05 left on the clock. Over 30 minutes later it was Hofacker assisting Neal Morgan as the Campers carried a 2-0 lead into the half.

Hofacker then assisted Adam Boorer 1:24 into the second half to push the score to 3-0.

Allegany attempted 12 shots compared to eight from BW. Ryan Marchini made seven saves in the shutout win, while Brandon Kimble made five saves for the Spartans.

Derek Fuller scored the only goal in Allegany’s 1-0 win in the jayvee contest. Brooke Knieriem and Scott Long each had a save in the Campers’ goal. Lucas Brock had 25 for the Spartans.

Allegany (2-0) will play at Southern on Tuesday. BW (6-1) is on the road for its fifth straight game when it travels to Mountain Ridge on Monday.
