CUMBERLAND — Fort Hill scored twice in the second half to defeat Frankfort 2-0 on a rainy afternoon at Greenway Avenue Stadium for its seventh shutout of the season.
Westyn Parks scored at 32:28 to break the 0-0 deadlock. Logan Mullery set up the score when he collected the ball at midfield and passed it to Mac Cohen, who then sent it to Parks.
Fort Hill sealed the victory with 1:58 to play when the Sentinels’ goalkeeper Jacob Tichnell punted the ball down field to Riley Upole. Upole took a few touches and buried the ball into the net for the 2-0 lead.
The Sentinels dominated the field as they outshot the Falcons 22-5.
Fort Hill pressed the Falcons most of the game but Frankfort, whose six-game win streak was stopped, played stingy on defense as the Falcons blocked shots and used slide tackles to win balls in the Sentinels final third of the field.
In the first half, the Sentinels’ Connor Hipp and the Falcons’ goalkeeper Chris Kenney provided the first half highlight. Hipp fired a low shot on a line to the corner of the Falcons’ goal before Kenney made a diving save to his right.
Both teams play Allegany in their next game. Frankfort (11-4-2) hosts the Campers today at 4 p.m. and the Sentinels (6-2-3) play them on Saturday at noon for the annual Homecoming game at Greenway Avenue Stadium.
