SHORT GAP, W.Va. — Keyser won the boys meet, taking the first four places, while Frankfort took the girls meet, as the Mineral County schools met in cross country Wednesday at Frankfort in their respective season openers.

Keyser took the boys meet, 19-36, with Tavon Rohrbaugh placing first in 18:55. He was followed by Josh Biser (19:54) in second, Canton Whisner (20:14) in third and Josh Myers, (20:16) in fourth.

In fifth place at 20:34 was Frankfort’s Shane Ickes, followed by teammates Ty Bowers (20:49), Leroy Miller (20:51) and Curtis Kesner (21:17). Keyser’s Daniel VanAller (21:29) finished ninth, and Keyser’s Derek George (21:42) was 10th.

Behind Katie Jan’s first-place finish in 21:51, Frankfort won the girls meet, 23-32.

Jan was followed by Keyser’s Hannah Biser (23:11) and Frankfort’s Sarah Moreland (24:27). Frankfort’s Ashley Noah (25:00) was fourth and Keyser’s Sarah Boddy (25:13) fifth.

Keyser’s Kierra Rohrbaugh (26:04), Frankfort’s Hope Adams (26:29) and Savannah Brown (26:45), and Keyser’s Katelyn Haupt (26:51) and Jasmine Redman (26:59) rounded out the top 10.

Frankfort will run Sept. 4 in the Geico Classic in Huntington.
