Souders’ 6 RBI leads Moose to 9-6 win

CUMBERLAND — Nate Souders hit a grand slam and finished with four hits and six runs batted in to lead Moose Lodge 271 to a 9-6 win over Casselman Valley Monday at Legion Field.

Souders grand slam came in the second inning and moved a 3-1 lead into a more comfortable 7-1 cushion. He finished the day 4-for-4 with a grand slam and three singles.

Colton Mathews and Zach Steckman had two singles for the Moose. Matthews scored four times.

Vinny Foreman got the win and struck out seven in 6 2-3 innings.

Brandon Miller tripled, Kirk Davis singled twice and Justin Donaldson had a double and two RBIs for Casselman Valley.

The Moose (1-0) plays Chessie at Hamilton Field and Casselman Valley will host Frank Arnold Construction at Salisbury this evening.

LAVALE — River Weese went 3-for-3, scored two runs and knocked in two more as Fort Ashby VFW rolled over Personal Best at Femi Field at LaVale Lions Park.

Fort Ashby VFW pounded out 17 hits in the five-inning game. J.P. Twigg had a triple, single and two RBIs, and Zach Bradfield and Thane Cutter a double, single and two RBIs each. Devan Erichsen and Colby Joiner doubled and singled while Jamison Jones tripled. Garrett Shoemaker allowed five hits, one unearned run and struck out three in four innings for the win.

Billy Kelly was 3-for-3 with a triple and two singles and Dave Rinehart singled twice for Personal Best.
