CUMBERLAND — Alli Shaffer and Claire Wilkinson scored two goals each and Southern collected its third shutout of the season by beating Fort Hill, 6-0, Thursday at Greenway Avenue Stadium.

The Rams got their first goal when Gina Stuck was assisted by Kelsey Lear at 26:41. Six minutes passed before Shaffer got her first goal unassisted, and Southern held a 2-0 lead at halftime.

Wilkinson started the second half with an unassisted goal with 30:39 to play. Shaffer got another unassisted goal at 26:05, and Wilkinson got her second score on a Lexi Botterbusch pass.

Botterbusch was assisted by Ayla Fuller for the final goal.

Southern led in shots (14-8), and Fort Hill hed a 7-2 edge in corner kicks. Vikki Stevens made five saves in Southern’s goal. The Sentinels got three saves from Alyssa McTaggart in the first half and three from Ashley Stumbaugh in the second.

The jayvee game ended in a 0-0 tie.

Southern (6-6) will host Keyser today, at 1 p.m.

Fort Hill (7-4) faces Allegany in its soccer Homecoming this morning, and can win the City title outright with a win. A tie would guarantee at least a share of the championship. The girls jayvee game start 9 a.m., and the boys jayvee teams at 11 a.m. Varsity action begins with the girls game at 1 p.m., followed by the boys at 3.
