CUMBERLAND - Brian Miller of Miller's Ironhouse Gym will sponsor the 13th annual Natural Bench Press Championships in the Allegany High School Gymnasium on Saturday.

Men and women from Maryland, Pennsylvania, West Virginia, and Virginia will be competing for the overall drug-free titles.

Randy Robinson from Winchester, Va., is expected to return again this year and attempt an over 600-pound lift. National Champion Jennifer Robertson from Inwood, W.Va., will be attempting over 300 pounds at a low bodyweight of 135 pounds. Last year's big winner, Barry Clark, may return and exceed his 620-pound effort.

The different divisions include: teenage, women, raw, sub-masters 35 plus, masters 40 plus, 50 plus, 55 plus, and 60 plus. The open weight classes are: 148, 165, 181, 198, 220, 242, 275, and 275 plus.

"This competition is not about the amount of weight lifted or the trophy earned, but about promoting an active, healthy lifestyle, sportsmanship, and using God-given abilities to their fullest potential," says Miller.

All proceeds will be donated to Tri-State Teen Challenge, which is a program designed to help teens with substance abuse addictions.

Weigh-ins for the event will be from 8 to 10 a.m. and lifting will begin at 11 a.m.
