CUMBERLAND — A Virginia man was injured in an accident on Interstate 68 that slowed traffic for about 40 minutes Wednesday, according to Maryland State Police.

Around 5:40 p.m., Shawn Tanagho, 25, of Manassas, Va., was traveling eastbound on I-68 near the Route 220 south exit when he reportedly lost control of his vehicle, striking the guardrail.

Tanagho was transported to Cumberland Memorial Hospital by LaVale Rescue squad and was not cited in the accident.

Cumberland Police and the Allegany County Sheriff’s Department assisted with traffic control, as one lane remained open at all times.

LaVale Volunteer Fire Department also responded to scene.
