ROMNEY, W.Va. — A young woman was found unconscious on the side of the road after being the apparent victim of a car crash.

The woman, who police said was in her mid-20s, was ejected from the vehicle about 3 a.m. Saturday on state Route 28, halfway between Romney and Springfield.

Police said they weren’t sure whether the woman was the driver of the car or the only person in the car. Police also were unsure where the woman was from.

The woman returned to consciousness on scene in front of emergency medical technicians. She was transported to Cumberland Memorial Hospital for treatment.

The vehicle had West Virginia license plates.

The Hampshire County Sheriff’s Office is investigating. No further details were available at press time Saturday night.
